CLIENT: Monika Blunder Beauty
Monika Blunder Beauty is a clean, botanically-inspired makeup brand founded by renowned celebrity makeup artist Monika Blunder. Reflecting the brand’s ethos of clean, high-performance beauty rooted in nature and Monika’s Austrian heritage, I was brought on to design packaging for the launch of her hero product, Blunder Cover. Since its debut, the line has been widely praised by beauty insiders at Vogue, Allure, Who What Wear, Refinery29, Byrdie, and more.

To kick off the project, I conducted my own competitive analysis of leading and emerging brands across clean beauty, luxury makeup, and organic home goods. I examined design trends, typography treatments, and material choices to better understand how the products could stand out while still fitting naturally within its target market.
From this research, I developed three distinct creative directions for the brand to explore. We moved forward with a blend between Direction 1 and 3 to encapsulate the brand’s clean yet artistic feel.
Research Phase
Packaging Exploration
With the selected direction in mind, I developed a series of packaging mockups that explored layout, typography, color palette, illustration style, and dieline structure. The goal was to strike a balance between elegant minimalism and whimsical botanicals. We refined the design until it felt both elevated and deeply personal for Monika and her team.
Note: The brand was previously named ZART before launch.
Final Packaging
The final packaging design features soft neutral tones, delicate line-drawn botanical elements, and refined typography. We partnered with fashion illustrator, Regina Yazdi to create the floral drawings as a nod to the brand’s natural ingredients. The result is a thoughtful product that reflects the core of Monika Blunder Beauty: clean, confident, and inspired by nature.
Digital Launch
In addition to packaging, I designed a suite of web banners to support the brand’s e-commerce debut and marketing rollout. These assets helped establish a cohesive brand presence online, contributing to a strong launch that quickly captured attention from both consumers and retailers. The launch was a resounding success and secured placement in major retailers including including Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, JCPenney, Amazon, and more.
